Founder Wiremu Kapa, also known as Will and by his DJ name ‘WIL.K - The Baddist,’ grew up in a small town where the radio was the center of family life, far more common than television. Surrounded by the sounds of country, rock, reggae, R&B, and those timeless hits from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, he developed a deep love for music that continues to thrive today. You can catch Wiremu every weekend on Mai FM, sharing his passion with listeners across the nation as part of the Mai FM Mix Weekends team.

Wiremu’s musical journey began as a rhythm guitarist in a band that won the Auckland Rockquest competition. His first exposure to DJing came at a college radio station, and he quickly became hooked. This started the journey, leading him to enter and win DJ battles throughout Northland and Auckland. After spending a decade in Australia, he played in some of the best bars and clubs, earning residencies in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Wiremu even held the title of Queensland State DJ Champion for four consecutive years, entertaining diverse audiences often three times the size of clubs back home in New Zealand.

Upon returning to New Zealand, Wiremu realized how the work ethic and experience gained from performing for those diverse crowds in Australia helped him secure gigs right away. He started with private functions and weddings, which opened doors to bars, clubs, Culture Kings retail store, and Mai FM radio station. This recognition inspired him to launch DJ Now. As the founder and owner, Wiremu has channeled his expertise into creating a DJ hire service known for its versatility and professionalism. DJ Now offers world-class music for bars, clubs, weddings, corporate events, and private functions, featuring a talented team of award-winning DJs who excel at crowd engagement and creating memorable experiences. Wiremu also shares his love for music by tutoring DJing at the Industry DJ School.
